Regrettably it took a lot longer than anyone with a sound mind would have ever imagined.īut maybe we should not be surprised as the human condition invariably leads us into trying all the wrong things until we are forced to do the one obvious right thing.Īfter nearly 14 years of profligate spending and unmitigated fiat currency expansion it suddenly seems that the Federal Reserve has reached its ‘fiat singularity’: A point in time at which monetary expansion has become uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unforeseeable changes to human civilization.įor a long time we’ve all pretended to not notice how our collective lives had become increasingly more volatile, expensive, and unhappy. In case you haven’t been paying attention recently, we have finally reached the end of the line of the greatest monetary experiment of the 21st century. However, it remains one of System of a Down’s worst performing US singles, particularly relative to the song’s global performance.Īlthough the lyrics are viewed as confrontational, the singer is actually challenging the listener to “wake up” and reconsider the way that they judge and deride people who are engaged in self-destructive behaviors. Eventually, the record resurfaced on the charts-in part due to its earlier popularity, in part due to the lack of new singles released that September. In the wake of the tragedy, Clear Channel Communications (now iHeartMedia) put out a memo to its subsidiary radio stations temporarily blackballing (but not outright banning) it, along with 164 other “lyrically questionable” songs. The song’s chorus, with its congratulatory “self-righteous suicide,” and lament, “I cry when angels deserve to die” was considered a bit too raw for listeners at the time. The song enjoyed success, climbing the charts after its August 2001 release before virtually disappearing from airwaves after 9/11. The song title is a play on “Self-right-Chop Suey-cide,” that has a further sort of humor in that they mixed up a controversial word into a nonsensical word to create a more ‘radio-friendly’ title. I remember wanting to go to the mat and keep the title, and the band decided, “Let’s call it ‘Chop Suey!’” which I thought was kind of funny.Ĭhop-suey is the Americanization of the Chinese quick dish tsap sui, which means “odds and ends, mixed bits” in the Cantonese dialect. This song was originally going to be called “Self-Righteous Suicide,” and the record company rebelled. Rick Rubin, who produced Toxicity for System of a Down, cites this song as one of his most important projects. I don't think you trust In my self-righteous suicide I cry when angels deserve to die Ah! Wake up (Wake up) Grab a brush and put a little makeup (A little bit) Hide the scars to fade away the (Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup) Why'd you leave the keys upon the table? Here you go, create another fable, you wanted to Grab a brush and put a little makeup, you wanted to Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup, you wanted to Why'd you leave the keys upon the table? You can check out the base game and first DLC leading up to the latest DLC release, all while enjoying an ever-changing design. If you haven’t thought about checking out Dead Cells, now is probably a great time. You always come back ready for novel gameplay, and that’s probably the reason Dead Cells has done so well up to this point. You find new runs to utilize and new ways to approach combat. There are so many layers to peel back with this platformer, even after spending hours and hours with it. It’s one of those games that doesn’t get enough attention, but clearly is a fan-favorite for many according to recent sales figures since launch. It should continue to highlight the great elements Dead Cells has featured since launch, from the striking visuals to the addicting platforming action. The Bad Seed had a lot of meaningful content to keep game development going, and based on everything shown in the trailer and descriptions, it looks like Fatal Falls will do much of the same. It seems like a pretty good package for Dead Cells players looking for additional ways to approach gameplay. More on them will be revealed when this second paid DLC gets closer to releasing next year. Not only that, but Fata Falls is adding more weapons and resources. ![]() RELATED: Predator: Hunting Grounds Is Having A Free Trial This Weekend On PC And PS4 There are new bosses waiting to be challenged as well for those looking to test their mettle. The main attraction with Fatal Falls is two new mid-game biomes, which should give players new ways to go about their paths. An announcement trailer was put out by the developer Motion Twin that shows a peak of the new content players will be able to check out if they pay for the DLC’s $4.99 price point. RELATED: Infinity Ward Could Be Adding 'Frankenstein' Weapon Feature To Call Of Duty: Modern Warfareįatal Falls is the second paid DLC that is set to release early next year. That’s about to change fortunately for fans of this stylish and somewhat challenging platformer. Motion Twin dropped a teaser trailer featuring the areas today, so be sure to check it out below. The roguelite Dead Cells has been out since 2017, but in that time has only received one paid DLC. There will also be a new boss to face, along with a load of new weapons. The Undying Shores, however, is appropriately dreary, and maybe a little damp. ![]() Fractured Shrines is brightly lit (praise that sun), but it’s still full of traps and enemies to face. The two new areas, Fractured Shrines and The Undying shores, are said to be “parallels” to Time Keeper, Clock Tower, and Stilt Village. Still, it’s only a year, and your patience will be rewarded.įatal Falls brings more to Dead Cells‘ blood-soaked table. All right, that’s not necessarily bad considering the low price point. The Bad Seed landed in February this year, and Fatal Falls will quite likely arrive around the same time in 2021. Motion Twin has been offering Dead Cells players a lot of additional content on the cheap, with only one real downside. But the better news is that, like The Bad Seed before it, Fatal Falls will provide you with all its delicious, fresh content for only $4.99 USD. I think talking about what they do is fine, that's not really a spoiler imo. Don't spoil how to find them quite yet though. No specifics yet but we know what items are in, what enemies, biomes, outfits, etc. That’s arguably the good news, depending on how much of a masochist you claim to be. There are some basic notes about what's included in the Fatal Falls patch on the dead cells wiki. The DLC will introduce newcomers and pain veterans alike to two more mid-game areas, as well a new boss to fight. Following the last major content update with The Bad Seed, developer Motion Twin will have you running for your life again early next year with Fatal Falls. Dead Cells still has plenty of life left in it. ![]() ![]() ![]() That is expensive digging! Given the technology and funds, geologists would like to try to go deeper for core samples, but digging such holes requires much patience, money, technology, and luck. The project cost over $100 million, which is about $2500 per foot. The Kola’s well depth is comparable with the distance across Jackson. That is the current record for a depth reached by humans. Work continued until the project was abandoned in 1989 because the drill became stuck in rock at a little over 12km (almost 40,000ft or 8 miles) deep. After five years, the Kola well had reached 7km (about 23,000ft). The deepest hole by far is one on the Kola Peninsula in Russia near Murmansk, referred to as the "Kola well." It was drilled for research purposes beginning in 1970. However, valuable core samples were obtained and a lot was learned about deep sea drilling. Where they were digging, the Moho is 16,000 ft deep, so the team fell far short of their goal. The goal was to reach a discontinuity between the upper mantle and the Earth’s crust called the Mohorovicic discontinuity - commonly termed the "Moho." The project fell quite short of the Moho, reaching only 601ft below the sea floor in 12,000 feet of water. In 1966 funds ran out and the project closed. Perhaps the most well-known effort to pierce the Earth is Project Mohole (began in 1961), which was an attempt to drill through the Earth’s crust in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico where the crust is shallow. The well was halted because it struck molten sulfur. is the Bertha Rogers gas well in Oklahoma at 32,000 feet (6 miles) deep. The Earth’s crust is broken into many smaller plates that slide very slowly over a more mobile or ’plastic’ material called the asthenosphere. Actually, the Earth does have a shell, called the crust. If the Earth were an egg we haven’t even succeeded in boring through the shell. However, by digging, we have only scratched the surface of our Earth - literally. Many holes have been dug for both research and commercial purposes. Digging a hole straight down would seem to be the most effective way to study the Earth’s interior. We would all like to know what is inside the Earth. What is the deepest hole ever dug into the Earth?
